The Bean Man

To get my "study" on I usually go to Novel Cafe in downtown.  The groundworks coffee here is awesome-everything else not so much.  It's a little loft with a "indie-coffeeshop" feel, mediocre food, and questionable music. One thing I do love is that they feature local artists each month by placing their pieces on the walls. This weekend when I went I fell in love with "The Bean Man" paintings by Gaia Bracco an Italian artist now living in Los Angeles.

A few pictures of her work on the walls of Novel

Her snippet about her inspiration for The Bean Man reads:
"You were born alone and you will die alone. Whether you like it or not, loneliness escorts man during his entire life. We realize it during brief illuminating moments and ironically this loneliness makes us feel less alone, this emptiness is common to everyone. An intimate and deep space, completely white(or black)to be filled only with our thoughts, our secret hopes, our dreams. A starting point to look at ourselves, the perfect viewers."

"Party"

"Obama"

"Spotlight"

And my favorite (which I will be taking home):

"Falling Apart"

I don't know about you but I totally dig The Bean Man.

  3. I love this...its interesting bc I've often felt like we have to get used to lonliness since after all you are born alone and die alone. I say that a lot to myself in order to bear it. Its a universal feeling we all experience. Great art. -Rabs

  14. Yea these are great and I really love the theme. Very much my style, and the ideas behind it are also very in tune. I really like how much theory is put into the paintings.
